Properties of Plastics

  1. It offers great resistance to moisture, chemical and solvents.
  2. The plastic is quite durable.
  3. These are good electrical insulators.
  4. The plastic can be easily fixed in position.
  5. They have great resistance to the moisture.
  6. It is easy to maintain plastic surface. They do not require any protective coat of points.
  7. They have a low melting point.
  8. These have low weight, which reduces the transport cost.
  9. The specific gravity of plastic is 1.3 to 1.4
  10. These are good sound insulators.

Uses of Plastics

  1. They are used to make bath and sink units.
  2. They are used to make corrugated and plain sheets.
  3. They are used to make overhead tanks, lighting, fixtures, pipes etc..They are used to make films for waterproofing and damp proofing.
  4. They are used as electrical insulators, thermal insulators and sound insulator.
